about
“The song has a simple message,” explains Mamani Keïta. “The perfect person does not exist. We all have our flaws and imperfections which we carry with us through life. But there is beauty in imperfection, and that’s what we want people to realise.”
“Jacknife Lee took time to listen to each of our voices,” says Fafa Ruffino. “He doesn’t understand the language but you can tell that he feels the emotion, understands that our souls are deeply invested in our words. I feel like he entered our minds. What he did is more than musical. It is spiritual.”

English Translation:
No one has more flaws than an outgoing person
People with flaws carry them everywhere they go
(They say you heard us, you get it?)
No one has more flaws than a chatty person
People with flaws carry them everywhere they go
(They say you heard us, you get it?)
No one has more flaws than a poor person
People with flaws carry them everywhere they go
(They say you heard us, you you heard us?)
Chorus:
Everyone has flaws
People with flaws
Carry them everywhere they go (x2)
Brothers, let’s reflect on this for a moment
No one has more flaws than a traveler
People with flaws carry them everywhere they go
(They say you heard us?)
Brothers, let’s accept the accusations for a moment
No one has more flaws than an outgoing person
People with flaws carry them everywhere they go
(They say you heard us?)
I travelled through the whole city of Bamako
Everyone there has their own flaws
I travelled through the whole city of Mopti
Everyone there has their own flaws
I travelled through the whole of France
Everyone there has their own flaws
I travelled through the whole of Europe
Everyone there has their own flaws
Chorus (x4)
Get up, get up, get up, get up, RISE!
Get up, get up, get up, RISE!
They say you heard us, and you like it?
No matter what, we’re gonna make it
They say you heard us, and you like it?
No matter what, YOU HEARD US?
Chorus (x4)
Everyone has flaws
I say everyone has flaws
Everyone has flaws
I say everyone has flaws

Les Amazones d'Afrique in 2019 features some new faces, but the message remains loud and clear: Violence against women must
stop. 'Amazones Power' tackles these issues head on. Three generations of women sing out in unison, calling for a future without the threat of female genital mutilation (FGM), sexual violence, lack of education and forced marriage....more

Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out. Great grooves and I can see lots of ghosts nodding along to this with big smiles on their faces. At last! Anthony Cottrell

The production lays down an enthralling soulful, funky blend of modern and traditional that allows Rokia Koné's powerful vocals to really shine through. I'm so glad I was introduced to this! Colin M.
